More For Bullimore

UPTURNED sailor Tony Bullimore is heading back down under in a round-the-world yacht race that will push the hi-tech boats to the limit.

Australia was held spellbound in 1997 as HMAS Adelaide raced for four days to reach Bullimore's upside-down boat far south of Australia to find him under the hull waiting for rescue.

But this time Bullimore will have a crew of 10 in his maxi-catamaran Team Legato, a boat which circled the globe in a record 74 days in 1994.

Asked why he was willing to risk his life again in the dangerous seas south of Australia Bullimore said: ``Simple, it's what I do. You don't run away because you had a bad one."

In what is called simply The Race, French organisers hope the super fast boats will break the record and sail around the world in under 65 days.

At least seven giant multihull boats will leave Barcelona on December 31. There are no size, crew or technology limits. Just the power of sail.
